Rachael The Frog

Ok, so here it is. The dreaded frog picture. But, I do look rather smashing in green with my face jammed on a frog body, if I do say so myself. And, as I also promised Harold (Hannah).....this.... is for you.....

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard
and answered when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing
and what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell. We know that it's probably magic.

Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.
-Kenny Loggins

Oh, and just in case any of you are wondering, I voted for Constantine about a million times last night. I'll keep him in this competition if I have to do it all myself! So there. Thanks for the photo Harold.

The Siren...Or Wannabe

To all of you who didn't believe that one day I would hook up with a superstar check this out. Aren't we just perfect together!? Yes, I know you might think I look just a little out of place.....uh....kind of like it's my profile picture of me hugging the tree and that I was cut and pasted in here. But that's just you being jealous that I snagged me such a famous pretty boy. And, just in case it doesn't work out between us, I can always marry Sean Bean. I think he's still available.? Anyways, thanks Hannah, I mean Harold, for making it all possible.

World On A String

"I walk without flinching through the burning cathedral of the summer. My bank of wild grass is majestic and full of music. It is a fire that solitude presses against my lips."

Timeless Shield

1. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8. If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10. Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12.Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
-Psalm 139:1-12

Release The Hounds

Ok, so there are no actual hounds involved. Today officially kicked off the horse show season. The schedules and class sheets were distrubuted, dues were paid, and the trainers' new horses of the season were shown to all. Well, Joyalous and I spent a great deal of the afternoon in the back of Tammy's Explorer cramming salt 'n vinegar chips, combos, and trail mix while previewing the horses as they warmed up before they were shown to the public. It is good to get back into the groove of showing. You just can't beat a hot summer night under the arena lights, the smell of hoof polish (which ends up on me more than my horse) and the junk food. So, here goes....Asa, Tammy, Joy, Hannah......get ready!

The Passing Memory

To shoots of green these waters fall
The rain is soft and lovely
Perfume of earth through window calls
The woven wood beckons
I cannot go for many days
For this house holds such blessing
In dreams I sing like nightingale
The woven wood beckons

We Proud Few

Tommy....I couldn't resist.

This is the first photo I'm posting from our college/career mountain trip we took a few weeks ago. It was a much needed vacation for us all. Originally intended to be a ski trip, 65 degree weather took care of that. But it turned out great anyway. This is a view from the top of Currahee where the 506th Airborne Infantry Division trained before heading for the European theater. From Camp Toccoa to the top of Currahee and back to the bottom was six miles. Visiting Currahee, Georgia was a big deal for me and my brother in law, Mike. We both hold a lot of respect for the Easy Company who lost so many men while serving their country during World War II. Several members of our group have vowed to get in shape and run the entire length of Currahee next year.

Unitas Mirabile Vinculum

The Wonderful Bond Of Unity
Katie, Joy, Hannah and I just got back from a much needed girls night out. Well, it was originally supposed to include guys, but we just couldn't seem to talk any of them into seeing Finding Neverland. Their loss. The movie was great. It was a serious tear jerker, and by the end of the movie I had tears and makeup flying everywhere. I'm glad I didn't watch it by myself or it would have been a sob fest. So, those of you who didn't go...you missed your one chance of seeing me cry like a dork in public. I declare that from now on we have a scheduled girls night out at least once a month. Who else can you go see a good girl movie with then eat at McDonalds while acting out movie scenes and attempting to predict Joy's future. (That's what you get when you order a Happy Meal around us...we show no mercy.) "A good time was had by all."
*****To those we missed, we'll get ya next time:)

A Fleeting Thought

Hannah, these bumper stickers reminded me of you!

Strangers have the best candy
Cat, the other white meat
Diplomacy Is Saying "Nice Doggy" Until You Find A Rock
Eat Right, Exercise, Die Anyway (Now I have an excuse)
Faster than a speeding ticket
Honk if you love boy bands, then drive off a bridge.
If you can't beat 'em....arrange to have 'em beaten.
Why did Yankee Doodle name the feather in his hat Macaroni?
Laugh alone and the world thinks you're and idiot.
